BURLINGTON, N.C. -- Burlington police arrested a third person in connection with a weekend home break-in in which an elderly woman was bound with a telephone cord and robbed at gunpoint.
Travon Deontae Whitted, 22, of Graham, was arrested Sunday in connection with the break-in. Ressy Shajuan Sanfor, 17, and Jason Antwan Gray, 17, were arrested within hours of the crime at a home in the 400 block of Albany Street, where police said they recovered several of the stolen items.
Four others at the home were also charged with possession of marijuana, but they were not involved in the break-in, police said.
Police said two of the suspects assaulted the 79-year-old woman after entering her home home in the 200 block of Rader Street around 1 a.m. Saturday.
The suspects bound the victim with a telephone cord and started going through her belongings, stealing guns, several coins and jewelry, police said.
The victim, who spoke with FOX8's Lindsey Eaton but did not wish to appear on camera, was able to free herself and pressed her lifeline alarm for help, police said.
She was not injured.
The victim said that -- even as the suspects pointed guns at here -- she had faith it would all work out.
She described the suspects as "lost souls looking in the wrong places for something to fill those voids in their hearts."
"I am concerned about the guys that did this," she said. "I've been praying for them and they'll turn their lives around."
The suspects and their charges are listed below.
