Police investigating early morning shooting in Burlington; search is on for suspect

BURLINGTON, N.C. -- Police are investigating a shooting in Burlington early Wednesday morning, and are searching for a suspect.

According to a news release, officers responded at about 1:30 a.m. to the 1000 block of Elm Street in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found a 30-year-old woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

FOX8's Hayley Fixler was at the 500 block of Spence Street where police had been since around 2 a.m. They received information that the suspect involved in the shooting was at that Spence Street location.

Police say the suspect was not there.
