Suspect shot in officer-involved shooting in Thomasville

THOMASVILLE, N.C. -- A suspect was shot by a law enforcement officer in Thomasville on Friday evening, according to Det. Chet Jarrell with Thomasville police.

The shooting happened at 7:21 p.m. in the 500 block of National Highway.

Jarrell said an officer saw the suspect and believed there were warrants out for the suspect. The officer stopped the suspect to investigate. At some point, the officer shot the suspect, Jarrell said. He could not provide additional details on the shooting.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital, Jarrell said. There is no word on their condition.

No officers were injured in the incident.

The State Bureau of Investigation has been notified of the shooting and is investigating, Jarrell said. This is protocol in all officer-involved shootings.
