WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police are looking for suspects after they said a man was shot in the ankle while walking down a street Monday night in Winston-Salem.
Police said the 30-year-old victim told them he was shot in his right ankle after 4-6 gunshots were fired around 10 p.m. in the 2400 block of North Jackson Avenue.
Witnesses said a sedan with a flat tire was seen leaving the area after the shots were fired. Witnesses also said a man was seen getting into a black Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a woman and leaving.
Police said the victim was dropped off at the Shell gas station near Baptist hospital with injuries shortly later.
Officials said he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Baptist hospital. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information can call Crimestoppers at 727-2800.
