KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — Police say a Greensboro man led officers on a chase through downtown Kernersville on a motorcycle that was reported stolen two years ago.
According to a news release from the Kernersville Police Department, an officer attempted to stop a motorcycle that did not have a registration plate on Hwy 66 South shortly after 11:15 a.m. Wednesday.
The motorcyclist — later identified as Elton Ivan Robertson, 36, of Greensboro — did not stop, so a chase ensued, police said.
Officers chased Robertson through parts of downtown Kernersville before he crashed in the 100 block of South Main Street, police said.
After crashing, Robertson got up and ran away, police said.
Officers tracked Robertson across Business I-40, Old Winston Road and into the Lamshire development, police said. He was later found hiding alongside Business I-40, police said.
The motorcycle was later found to have been stolen out of Salisbury two years ago, police said.
Police said the incident is still being investigated and charges are pending.
