GIBSONVILLE, N.C. — Police say an Alamance County man was arrested early Wednesday after he broke inside a Gibsonville home and attacked a resident.

According to Gibsonville police, William Dudley Cooper broke into a home on Hillcrest Avenue, attacked someone inside and then ran away from the scene.

Police say Cooper was found hiding nearby in a thick underbrush.

When the suspect refused to come out from the underbrush, police say they used a K-9 to “gain compliance.”

The suspect was arrested and jailed under a $50,300 bond.

Cooper is charged with first-degree burglary, misdemeanor assault and battery, communicating threats and resist/obstruct/delay.  Police say he was also served with an outstanding warrant for shoplifting.
