Police make 28 DWI arrests at weekend checkpoints in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police and other law enforcement personnel from Wake County conducted two DWI checkpoints over the weekend.

According to WTVD, there were 16 DWI arrests, six other alcohol violations, two weapons violations, five drug charges, and 22 non-alcohol traffic violations during a checkpoint early Saturday morning on Capital Boulevard.

Charges during Sunday’s operation included 12 DWIs, three other alcohol violations, four drug charges, and 14 non-alcohol traffic violations, according to the report. Four pending arrest warrants were also served.

Police said the total of 28 DWI arrests during this weekend’s checking stations equals about one every 11 minutes during the five hours the stations were operational.
