Police look to ID suspect in armed robbery in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a convenience store at gunpoint early Thursday in Winston-Salem.

The robbery was reported around 3:30 a.m. at the Wilco Hess at 4019 Reynolda Road.

Police say the suspect was armed with a handgun and had his face covered with his shirt when he walked inside the store and ordered the clerk over to the register. The suspect forced the clerk to open the register, then ran away with an unknown amount of cash. He was last seen headed south toward Morningside Drive.

Officers used a K-9 in an effort to track the suspect, but he was not found.

The suspect is described as a black male of an unknown age who stood about 5’2″ tall with a bald head and slim build. He was wearing a black shirt and blue shorts at the time of the robbery.
