Police investigating armed robbery at Burlington shoe store

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police responded to an armed robbery at a shoe store on Monday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched to the Payless ShoeSource, located at 1469-C, University Drive, in reference to a call about a robbery shortly after 1 p.m.

The suspect reportedly entered the store armed with a small handgun and demanded money from the business. The sales associate complied with the suspect’s demands and was unharmed.

The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 40 to 50 years old, around 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing around 170-180 pounds. At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing a sweater with horizontal strips, blue jeans, a black toboggan and dark sunglasses.
