DOVER, Del. — Police are investigating an allegation of domestic assault involving NASCAR driver Kurt Busch.

Busch’s ex-girlfriend, Patricia Driscoll, claims she was assaulted by Busch in September inside a motorhome at the Dover International Speedway. Driscoll said the couple had just broken up the week before. According to WSOC, police will have additional information as it becomes available.

Busch drives the No. 41 Haas Automation Chevrolet SS for Stewart-Haas Racing.

The USA Today reports that NASCAR officials know about the investigation, which started Wednesday afternoon.

“We recognize the seriousness of this matter and are actively gathering information from all parties, including law enforcement authorities and Stewart-Haas Racing,” NASCAR chief communications officer Brett Jewkes said. “It would be inappropriate for NASCAR to comment further on this matter until we have more information.”
