Police investigate shooting in Thomasville

THOMASVILLE, N.C. — Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Wednesday night in Thomasville, according to a press release.

At about 11:21 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of James Avenue in reference to shots fired. Upon arrival, police discovered 24-year-old Cordero Diante Fordham running in the 100 block of James Avenue. When they made contact with him, they learned he had been shot in the chest.

He was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital and is in stable condition.

It is unclear what led to the shooting and detectives are following up on several leads.

The investigation is ongoing.
