Police: High Point woman found dead likely died of an overdose

HIGH POINT, N.C. — Police believe the woman found dead Sunday afternoon likely died of an overdose.

Jamey Marie Shafer, 30, was found dead about 1 p.m. Sunday at 219 E. Fairfield Road behind Fairfield Oriental Market.

“It’s being investigated as an accidental overdose,” said Capt. Mike Kirk with High Point police.

He said it’s believed she overdosed on heroin.
