BURLINGTON, N.C. — Burlington Police are looking for a man suspected of firing a gun inside a convenience store during a robbery early Wednesday morning.

The incident happened around midnight at Ken’s Quickie Mart on Rauhut Street.

Burlington Police said a clerk was preparing to close down the store when a man with a handgun entered the business.

The suspect threw a bag at the clerk, demanding her to put money into the bag, police said.

The clerk refused to fill the bag with money, and the suspect then fired the handgun, police said.

After the shot was fired, the clerk said the suspect reached over the counter, took an undetermined amount of money from the register and ran from the store, police said.

No one was injured. The suspect was last seen running toward Morgantown Road, police said.

The suspect was described as a young black male, 5’5″ to 5’6″ tall, with a stocky to large build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, jeans, a dark hat and some type of covering over his face.

Anyone with information on the incident or the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to call Burlington Police at (336) 229-3500 or Crimestoppers at 229-7100.
