Police bust marijuana growing operation, seize 76 plants in Burlington

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police arrested a man Monday in connection with a marijuana growing operation and seized 76 marijuana plants.

Officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Timber Trail around 6 p.m. on Monday.

Deputies seized 76 marijuana plants and also located several plastic baggies containing Marijuana packaged to distribute. The total weight of the marijuana seized was approximately 12.5 pounds.

Deputies also seized $5,000 in cash, multiple firearms and several quarts of non-tax paid alcohol.

The homeowner was present at the time of the search and was identified as 51-year-old Robert Wayne Nicks.

Nicks was charged with trafficking marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell/deliver, manufacture marijuana, maintaining dwelling for controlled substances, possession of non-tax paid alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Nicks was placed in the Alamance County Detention Center under a $30,000 bond.
