WENTWORTH, N.C. — Police are searching for a registered sex offender in Rockingham County after he failed to report his change of address and removed a tracking device. Both are felony offenses.

Michael Vogt, 32, was released from prison after a 2005 conviction in Forsyth County for taking indecent liberties with a minor.

He was given a GPS ankle bracelet as a condition of his release.

Since his release, Vogt removed the tracking device and police said he is attempting to avoid arrest.

Anyone who sees Vogt or knows of his whereabouts is asked to call the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office at 336-634-3232 or Rockingham County Crime Stoppers at 336-349-9683.
