Police arrest man accused of shooting, killing woman at Winston-Salem apartment

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Police have arrested a man accused of shooting and killing a woman at a Winston-Salem apartment complex on Saturday.

Willie Darnell Martin, 40, faces charges in the shooting death of 23-year-old Amanda Delores Lindsay, according to a Winston-Salem police press release.

Police said the suspect shot the victim after an argument at an apartment at 128-C Charleston Court at about 12:45 p.m.

The victim’s mother and a small child were at the apartment at the time, but were not hurt. Lindsay was found dead at the scene.

Martin left in Lindsay’s 2015 Dodge Charger before police arrived. He was arrested later in the day after turning himself in at the Forsyth County Detention Center.

Authorities obtained warrants on the suspect, charging him with murder and attempted murder. He is being held without bond.
