CARROLLTON, Texas — A random act of kindness by a police department ended up inspiring an entire community in Texas to lend one family a helping hand.

Police decided to help a homeless family with a small child after finding them sleeping in a car early Friday morning.

The officers said they found out that the couple had jobs, but were temporarily homeless and had to sleep in their car until they could move into their apartment.

After hearing the family’s story, officers got them a hotel room and a few necessities.

When the spokesperson for the police department posted the story on Facebook, the community responded by dropping off everything from clothes to bedding.

The police department said dozens of strangers made a point to bring additional help for the family.
