ERWIN, N.C. — A small ultralight aircraft went down in the tree line near Harnett Regional Jetport on Sunday, according to the Harnett County Sheriff’s Department.

WTVD reported that the incident was not related to the jetport. The Erwin Fire Department said there is a grassy landing strip nearby that the pilot was trying to land on.

The Fire Dept. said the pilot was the only person on board and he was not injured.

The pilot told emergency crews he experienced engine problems.
