CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A commercial pilot is accused of ejecting more than 200 pounds of marijuana from a plane leaving a Charlotte-area airport in 2013, according to WBTV.
Saad Subhi Basha was charged with drug trafficking, money laundering and structuring.
Investigators told WBTV that Basha was part of a conspiracy to bring marijuana and money from drug trafficking to Mecklenburg and Union counties.
According to an affidavit, Basha, “ejected dozens of pounds of marijuana” from an aircraft after taking off on March 17, 2013.
The document also noted that FAA officials on the ground saw the drugs being ejected.
Investigators told WBTV that the total amount of marijuana ejected from the plane is unknown.
