GREENSBORO, N.C. — Lottery officials said a Piedmont family is sharing a winning $1 million lottery ticket bought in Greensboro.
Officials said the Powerball prize ticket was bought at the Quick N Easy gas station on Burlington Road for the May 25 drawing.
North Carolina Education Lottery officials said the $1 million was divided among four members of the Murray family.
Robert and Annie Murray, a couple from Greensboro, reportedly received $350,000 each, $238,000 apiece after taxes.
Officials said the couple’s daughter, Nichelle Murray of Burlington, and their son, Rodney Murray of Greensboro, received $150,000 apiece, $102,000 each after taxes.
The winning ticket beat the odds of 1 in 5.1 million to match all five white balls drawn, officials said.
They said players have the chance to win an $85 million jackpot if taken as an annuity or $52.1 million if taken as a lump sum in Saturday’s Powerball drawing.
