WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Laughing Gas Comedy Club, located at 2105 B Peter’s Creek Parkway, will close after its final show, featuring Tom Simmons, on Feb. 27, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
It will reopen on March 4 as The G.A.S., a rock music venue, with a performance by Brothers Pearl and a grand-opening party. Thrillbillies will play the following night.
The G.A.S. owners will still produce a stand-up comedy show once a week at 7 p.m. on Saturdays at Johnny and June’s Ultra Saloon, a country-music venue, 2105 Peter’s Creek Parkway, right next door. Patrons with tickets for the comedy show will be allowed to stay for the music at no additional charge.
The Laughing Gas, which has produced stand-up comedy shows Thursday-Saturday for the past nearly three years, presented such notable comedians as Bobcat Golthwait, David Koechner and Doug Stanhope.
