WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Restaurants and sports bars all over the Piedmont are gearing up for what should be a very busy Sunday.
They are expecting large crowds of fans to show up to watch the Carolina Panthers take on the San Francisco 49ers.
Hooters General Manager Kevin Chodyniecki says, while they normally have a good turnout for NFL games, the Panthers fans will "definitely pack the restaurant out. We're looking for a good crowd."
At Foothills Brewing in downtown Winston-Salem, Assistant Bar Manager Caleb Flint says he's enjoyed watching the Panthers this year. "We love how upbeat the fans are and how expectations have changed over the years. They've really become a fun team to watch," he says.
Two new beers are also debuting this weekend and the game should add to their business.
Fox and Hound Manager Steve Braune say that the success of the Panthers this year has brought some new people into his restaurant. "We always have a good group of regulars that pack the place," he says, "but obviously with the success of the Panthers this season we're seeing some new faces, which is good."
They all agree that the season the Panthers have had is good for their bottom line.
Chodyniecki says, "As long as they stay in it, you're always going to pack the restaurant. It's always good for business."
Braune agrees, "If they can ride this out all the way to the Super Bowl, we'll ride it out as long as we can."
