PHILADELPHIA — Talk show host Stephen Colbert has joined the list of exalted literary figures with collections at the Rosenbach Museum & Library.
A playful new exhibit pairs priceless material by James Joyce and Maurice Sendak with items Colbert used to create his children’s book “I Am A Pole (And So Can You!).”
The display includes pens, sketches and remnants of Colbert’s lunch.
It’s certainly not the usual fare for the Philadelphia institution best known for housing the only manuscript of Joyce’s “Ulysses.”
But museum officials say the exhibit fulfills its mission to “inspire curiosity, inquiry and creativity.”
Colbert conducted one of the last interviews with Sendak before he died in May. Sendak wrote and illustrated the book “Where the Wild Things Are.”
