WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A person is dead after a shooting in Winston-Salem, according to police.
Police responded to the scene at Pittsburgh Avenue and Burton Street in the area of Kimberley Park on Tuesday afternoon.
Around 12:07 p.m., police received reports of shots being fired near the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center.
Police say they found one male victim dead in an SUV.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center is closed for the remainder of the day. All events and programs are canceled for the day.

Several blocks are taped off while police interview people in the area and follow up on leads.
Officers have not yet released the victim’s name or any other identifying information.
Next of kin have reportedly not been notified yet.
