GREENSBORO, N.C. – A pedestrian has died after being hit by a tractor-trailer and an SUV while crossing Interstate 40.
Donald Melton III, 33, of Kernersville, was pronounced dead at the scene by Guilford County emergency responders, according to Greensboro police.
Police said it happened as Melton was crossing Interstate 40 West between West Wendover Avenue and Guilford College Road shortly after 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
The victim was struck by a 2015 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by a 65-year-old Lenoir man and then hit by a 2006 Pontiac Torrent driven by a 27-year-old Greensboro woman.
Police said there are currently no charges pending. The crash is being investigated by the Greensboro Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit.
