GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro firefighters are on the scene of a fire at a recycling business on the city’s southeast side.

The fire was reported just before 3:30 p.m. at the Re Community recycling plant at 706 Patton Ave.

Division Chief K.R. Stanley tells FOX8 the fire started in bales of paper stored in a warehouse.

Firefighters brought the flames under control shortly after arriving and are now breaking up the bales to soaking the paper to make sure the flames don’t start up again.

At one time the fire closed Patton Avenue but the road has been reopened.
