SURRY COUNTY, N.C. — The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close portions of U.S. 52 near Dobson Mill Road in Surry County on Tuesday and Wednesday nights to remove beams from the Dobson Mill Road bridge.

The Winston-Salem Journal reported that the bridge has been struck by several trucks, and the rehabilitation project should prevent those accidents. The new bridge will have 18 more inches of clearance.

A detour will be marked. Motorists should take Old U.S. 52 to N.C. 268 (Key Street) back to U.S. 52.

The project started in April and should be completed in May 2015.
