HIGH POINT, N.C. -- A free over-the-counter medicine giveaway drew quite the crowd to the First Presbyterian Church in High Point Friday.

N.C. MedAssist, a non-profit organization, handed out everything from pain relievers to first aid kits to children’s medicine and vitamins.

The giveaway is designed to help those who are uninsured and unable to afford over-the-counter medicine.

People from across the Piedmont are welcome to stop by until 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church at 918 North Main Street in High Point.

It’s first-come-first-serve.

Organizers expect to help about 250 people and have already counted more than 200 people in need of medicine by 11 a.m. Friday.
