KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — Officials said a car with two bodies inside was pulled from the Wateree River by rescue crews Sunday evening in Kershaw County.

WBTV reported that the victims have not been positively identified, but officials said they appear to be Jake Ziegler, 18, and Ray Pierce, 17, two teenager missing from North Carlina.

Authorities said the car’s tag matches a car being driven by the suspected victims.

The teens were reported missing after officials said they left a party on Oct. 13, saying they were driving to the beach.

Authorities say Ziegler used his cell phone at the location to send a text message on Oct. 13 at about 2:45 a.m.

Dozens of volunteers searched an area near Blythewood, about 25 miles north of Columbia.

Neither their cell phones nor their debit cards have been used since.

Ziegler and Pierce  were two high school seniors from Sherrills Ford, N.C.

The investigation is ongoing.
