The Pittsburgh Penguins were knocked out of the Stanley Cup playoffs in April, suffering a 4-1 series loss to the New York Rangers.
But the beating they took on Twitter at the hands of the Discovery Channel on Thursday may be even worse.
On Wednesday, Discovery tweeted out a message to its followers about the average height of penguins:
On average, emperor penguins grow to be 3.8 feet tall >> http://t.co/HpD6bwgzhQ pic.twitter.com/PgLuwLYuBB

Pittsburgh took the opportunity to make a joke about it:
@Discovery As of May 13, 2015, the average Pittsburgh Penguin grows to be 6’1”.

The hockey players are tall Penguins, get it?
Apparently Discovery didn’t see the humor in it and absolutely destroyed them on Thursday:
@penguins Strange. Our latest observations show no Penguin activity currently on ice in Pittsburgh. Where did they go?

Don’t mess with the Discovery Channel.
