The NYC soda ban starts Tuesday.

Mayor Bloomberg’s sugary drink ban will be enforced starting on Tuesday. The ban will make sure restaurants and businesses are not selling sodas more than 16 ounces.

According to WPIX, health inspectors will be dispatched with special 17 ounce cups to measure each pour.

The details of the ban are spelled out by the city in response to a class action lawsuit from major soda companies. Some restaurants said they are waiting for the lawsuit ruling before they make menu changes.

Restaurants will be given a 3-month grace period before the city begins issuing fines.
