NEW YORK – A park in New York dedicated to a late founder of the “Beastie Boys” rap group has been vandalized with two swastikas and the words “Go Trump!”
The New York Daily News reported that the messages were found Friday spray painted at the Adam Yauch Park in Brooklyn Heights.
The graffiti will be painted over, according to City Councilman Brad Lander, citing the NYPD Hate Crimes task force and Parks Department.
Yauch was one-third of the pioneering hip-hop group the Beastie Boys and died at the age of 47 in 2012.
Also known as MCA, he had been in treatment for cancer since being diagnosed in 2009 after discovering a tumor in his salivary gland.
Yauch co-founded the Beastie Boys with Mike “Mike D” Diamond and Adam “Ad-Rock” Horowitz in 1979.
