BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A Brooklyn woman was found to have been living with her mom’s skeletal remains for at least a year, according to multiple media reports.

The corpse, believed to be that of Susie Rosenthal, 61, was discovered Monday under a pile of garbage bags in an apartment she shared with her daughter, Chava Stirn, 28, according to the New York Post.

Neighbors called police after smelling a foul odor and an “unexplained leak.” When cops arrived, Stirn was acting “erratically” and was taken to a medical center for an evaluation.

The corpse was located around 5 p.m. Monday.

Neighbors told cops Rosenthal had not been seen lately. Both mother and daughter had histories of psychological issues, sources told the New York Post.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy to determine the woman’s cause of death.
