ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Less than a week after Samsung recalled millions of Galaxy Note 7 smartphones over reports of the devices catching fire, a Florida man found out first-hand the reason for the recall.
Nathan Dornarcher let his smartphone charge in his Jeep while he and his wife unloaded a desk Monday morning. While unloading the desk, he looked out of the window and saw his vehicle was on fire.
FOX 13 reports the phone exploded, setting the Jeep on fire and totaling his Jeep Grand Cherokee.
It’s unclear what owners of the phone should do now, but the company said on Sept. 2 that it will take about two weeks to prepare the recall, and the date new products will be available will vary by country.
