WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A teacher recently fired from North Forsyth High School has been arrested for taking indecent liberties with a male student following an investigation that began in October, according to police.

Alexandria Shanae Bennett, 24, of Greensboro, was charged with two felony counts of indecent liberties with a student.

A staff member overheard students talking about a possible incident and reported it to administrators. Administrators then relayed the information to Winston-Salem police and an investigation was conducted.

Bennett was suspended without pay in late October after Superintendent Beverly Emory learned of the allegations. The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education approved Bennett’s dismissal on Tuesday.

She had been in her second year teaching at North Forsyth and for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools.

She was issued a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 12.

Anyone with further information regarding this incident is asked to call the Winston-Salem Police Department at 336-773-7700 or Crime Stoppers at 336-727-2800.
