Woolly worms are coming to North Carolina to predict our winter weather

BANNER ELK, N.C. (WGHP) — Folklore says a black band on the woolly worm in fall means severe cold, winter weather ahead. 

While the National Weather Service says it’s not true, thousands of people will still head to western North Carolina this weekend to celebrate the Woolly Worm Festival in Banner Elk.
