WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — Winston-Salem police are investigating after a man was shot and killed on Tuesday, according to a Winston-Salem Police Department news release.

Around 7 p.m., members of the WSPD responded to the 400 block of Barry Street when they were told about a shooting.

Arriving officers found William Bell Jr. 69, of Winston-Salem, who had been shot, lying in the street.

Bell was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The 3800 block of Old Greensboro Road was closed for several hours while investigators processed the crime scene.

This is the 22nd homicide for 2023 compared to 19 at this time in 2022.
