50-year-old woman killed in Davidson County hit and run, troopers seeking driver

THOMASVILLE, N.C. (WGHP) — A busy highway was shut down Tuesday morning after a pedestrian was hit by a car.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol is looking for any information about a car that hit a pedestrian and fled the scene in Davidson County around 4 Tuesday morning.

A vehicle, possibly a 1985-1991 Chevrolet van, was in the Northbound lanes of US-29/Business 85 and hit a pedestrian that was walking in the roadway near Basset Drive. The vehicle fled the scene.

The person hit has been identified as Miranda Dawn Williams, 50, from Albemarle. Williams died at the scene.
