Legendary Southern Guilford High School football coach passes away, leaves generational legacy behind

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A longtime high school football coach in the Triad has died.

Revered Southern Guilford football coach C.K. Siler has passed away after a long illness.

His teams won 186 games from 1955 to 1981. The field at Southern Guilford High School is named in Mr. Siler’s honor, and his legacy in high school football continues on with his grandsons: Coach Darryl Brown of Grimsley and Coach Calvin Brown at Providence Grove.

Mr. Siler was 92 years old.
