3 taken to hospital, 1 dead after house fire in Browns Summit

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. (WGHP) — A house fire in Browns Summit sent three people to the hospital and claimed a life on Monday.

Alvis David Brown, 75, died shortly after arriving at the hospital, according to Guilford County Emergency Services.

An official with the Northeast Guilford Fire Department said the injuries to the two survivors are likely serious.

Firefighters worked to put out the fire on Locust Grove Drive.

An assistant fire chief says 30 firefighters were dispatched, and the fire was contained quickly. He believes the home is a total loss.

The call reporting the fire came in at 7:15 a.m.

Firefighters are still unsure how the fire started.

The family did have working smoke detectors in the home.

The investigation is ongoing.
