ASHEBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Police are investigating an overnight shooting in Asheboro.

According to Asheboro police, officers responded to a home on the 1000 block of Cedar Falls Road after being alerted of a shooting. Officers on the scene found a man with a gunshot wound in a small building behind the home.

He was taken to the hospital.

While officers were on the scene, they were notified a second victim arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound, police say.

Just after 1 p.m. Wednesday, officers say they secured warrants for the arrest of Joel Demandrae Thompson, of Pleasant Garden. He was charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Thompson is under a $750,000 secured bond.
