LEXINGTON, N.C. (WGHP) — Two people were found dead in Lexington on Sunday, and deputies began a murder-suicide investigation, according to Davidson County Sheriff’s Office news release.

At 10:56 a.m., deputies responded to a home on the 3300 block of Old Mill Farm Road in the Reedy Creek Community when they were told someone had died.

Arriving deputies found a man and woman at the home who had died. Detectives believe this was an isolated incident and are not looking for suspects.

The man was identified as 47-year-old James Shamel III and the woman was identified as 52-year-old Melanie Shamel.

Deputies say the evidence suggests the incident was a murder-suicide.

The investigation is ongoing.
