WAYNESVILLE, N.C. (WGHP) — Michael Hess, of Waynesville, bought a $25 scratch-off ticket and won a $100,000 prize, according to an NC Education Lottery news release.

Hess bought his winning Extreme Cash ticket from Southeast Energy on South Main Street in Waynesville.

He arrived at lottery headquarters Tuesday to collect his prize.

After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $71,017.
