North Carolina 3-year-old girl found in Tennessee after abduction; father faces murder charge in death of mother

SANFORD, N.C. (WGHP) — A 3-year-old girl, who was reportedly abducted in Sanford, has been found, and her father has been charged with murder, according to Sanford police.

At about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, police found Deana Michelle Bockes during a wellbeing check at a home on the 3900 block of Lee Avenue. An Amber Alert was issued for the woman’s daughter, 3-year-old Riley Harper Bockes.

Officers believe that Brent James Bockes, 50, the girl’s father, abducted her.

At about 8:30 p.m., police obtained warrants for the arrest of Brent Bockes on charges of first-degree murder in connection with the death of Deana Bockes, as well as robbery and larceny of a motor vehicle.

By 9 p.m., Rutherford County deputies found the suspect vehicle, which was stolen, after a crash on Interstate 24 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Police say Brent Bockes ran from the scene with the child.

Deputies and police found and arrested Brent Bockes at the Select Inn Motel on South Church Street in Murfreesboro. Riley Bockes was found unharmed.
