North Carolina school bus driver accused of pushing 8-year-old boy down bus steps

RALEIGH, N.C. – A North Carolina school bus driver is accused of pushing an 8-year-old boy down the steps of a bus.

The Raleigh News & Observer reported that Narciso Rafael DeLeon Alphonso, 55, of Raleigh, was charged with one count of misdemeanor assault on a child under 12.

The incident allegedly happened Aug. 12 as the Wake County school bus driver was driving students to elementary school.

The suspect was arrested Wednesday and has been suspended with pay since Monday, according to the paper. He was released from jail after posting a $1,000 bond.

The boy did not suffer serious injuries, according to officials. The suspect had been driving for Wake County since 2011.
