North Carolina police officer in a marked vehicle hits, kills pedestrian

STATESVILLE, N.C. — A Statesville police officer in a marked vehicle hit and killed a pedestrian early Saturday morning, according to WSOC.

The officer hit the person in the road just after midnight near the intersection of South Center and Bell streets.

Iredell County emergency workers pronounced the person dead at the scene. The North Carolina Highway Patrol will be handling the investigation.
