HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. — A Henderson County firefighter lost his home to a fire on Wednesday.
Officials with the Valley Hill Fire and Rescue said they responded to a structure fire on Stanwood Lane around 11 a.m. Firemen realized the address was the home of a fellow firefighter.
Dwight Hill has been a firefighter with Valley Hill Fire and Rescue for over thirty years. He never expected to respond to a structure fire at his own home, which is considered a total loss.
Dwight and his father Bill, and his three brothers have all served as firefighters with Valley Hill Fire and Rescue, according to officials.
A bank account has been setup at the Bank of North Carolina for anyone wishing to make a donation as a way of giving back to this family. Donations can be made payable to the Dwight Hill Benefit Fund.
Donations can be dropped off at the below locations or mailed to Valley Hill Fire & Rescue, PO Box 726, Hendersonville NC 28793.
