Power restored to hundreds who were without after storms

UPDATE: Power has been restored!

A few thousand power outages remained in the state Saturday afternoon after strong storms rolled through Friday.

The N.C. Department of Public Safety reported more than 2,200 across North Carolina as of about 5 p.m.

This number is a drop since 5,400 were reported at about 9 a.m.

In the Triad, Guilford County faces the most remaining outages at 914. More than 600 of those are in the area of Battleground Avenue and Lawndale Drive.

No other counties in the FOX8 viewing area report more than 30 outages.

Duke Energy reports that they will be working on outages throughout the day with power restored to Guilford County by 10 p.m.
