MOUNT PLEASANT, N.C. — A North Carolina elementary school student brought a gun to school, but nobody was hurt, according to the school district.
WBTV reported that Mount Pleasant Elementary School parents received a message Friday about a child bringing a gun to school.
“While today’s events are unsettling, we will use this situation as a teachable moment to reinforce the importance of speaking up when there is a dangerous situation,” the statement read in part.
Cabarrus County School officials said a teacher at the school was informed by students that another student had a gun.
The school resource officer and school administration was called and the student was removed.
