GREENSBORO, N.C. — Guilford County prosecutors have determined that two detectives were justified in shooting a man in October to stop what police called a crime spree.
Detectives R.E. Ferrell and W.C. Tyndall each fired at Isaiah Jurel Fox on Oct. 6. One shot hit Fox, 26, who crumpled, said Howard Neumann, the chief assistant district attorney for Guilford County.
Neumann said no criminal charges will be filed against either detective, based on the results of an investigation of the shooting that prosecutors received last week from the State Bureau of Investigation.
The events that Oct. 6 afternoon started at TJ Maxx, 4217 W. Wendover Ave., where a store loss-prevention officer told police he tried to stop a man from stealing six designer purses. The man, later identified as Fox, pushed the store officer and dropped the purses, according to Neumann.
